Brief Position Summary

The role of Sr. Accountant performs complex general accounting functions, such as completion of the general ledger, including posting entries, allocations and reconciliation, preparation, and analysis of and statistical reports for internal and external reporting requirements.

DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for the more complex activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports. This is the most senior skill level without supervisory responsibility. Job may provide functional advice or training to less experienced accountants.
• Participates in month end close, analyzes actual to budget variances, posts journal entries, and performs complex account analysis and bank reconciliations.
• Analyze financial statements and prepare explanations of the findings
• Responsible for closing the books in a timely manner.
• Participates in various complex accounting projects.
• Interact with and assist cost center managers from all functional areas.
• Works with various groups and functions to facilitate continuous process improvement
• Assists in implementing appropriate accounting practices and internal controls
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
• Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• Minimum two years of public accounting experience or three years job related experience is required.
• CPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus.

Skills

• In depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles is required.
• Strong organizational, delegation, leadership, and interpersonal skills are required.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills are also required.
• Excellent time management skills are required.
• Knowledge of SAP is required.
• Knowledge of OneStream is a plus.

Other Requirements

• A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 15% of the time is required.

Compensation starting at $67375 – $96250 / year and up dependent on candidate location and experience.
